Squats are a great symetrically loaded exercise for building the leg and butt muscles. Squats are considered by the Reciprocal Energy Fitness program to be one of the five basic essential body strengthening exercises. Getting up from a chair and picking up something from the floor both require this basic life movement. Also this is one leg exercise that works many different muscles.
When doing a squat one should keep the weight in the heels, abs drawn in, hips back, the rib cage lifted, and eyes forward. They are several versions of squats some of which engage certain muscles more than others. Squats can be done using ones body weight or performed incorporating different tools.
In this photo we have Yolanda, part of the Sudorific Circuit group fitness team performing a barbell squat while being spotted by a couple of her teammates.

A seated row is one of the variations used to perfom a the rowing exercise. A properly performed row provides a great way to strengthen the upper back muscles. Improved development in these upper back muscles can significantly help one’s posture.

Trainer Skip Hicks performing a seated row.
Unfortunately this is one of the exercises most commonly done incorrectly. The normal tendency is to execute this exercise in a way that greatly emphasizes the biceps. This of course greatly defeats the primary of objective which is to strengthen the upper back muscles. Learning how to effectively squeeze the shoulder blades together when initiating the row can highly improve the involvement of the back muscles.
The Reciprocal Energy method incorporates a three point pull. Contact fitness trainer Skip Hicks for more information. 408 413 9630. Also be sure to visit and like Reciprocal Energy Fitness on facebook.

My Fitness Pal is probably one of the easiest to use weight and calorie management applications around. After entering one’s current age, height, weight, activity level, and goal users receive a target calorie recommendation. Upon recording the food one has consumed along with exericises performed during the day the remaining calories to meet one’s target are automatically calculated. This program also has a huge database that makes finding food calorie amounts a breeze.
What’s more the “My Fitness Pal” application is FREE, accesible from a computer or smart phone, and allows users to have extra motivation by adding friends to their personal online support community.
Reciprocal Energy Fitness highly recommends this cool application. It may be just what you need to help you reach your health and fitness goals.

We all know that nutrition is a big part of obtaining optimal health. Having a balance of carbohydrates, protein, fat, and water is essential.
Some people are unaware however that vegetables, and fruits are also carbs. And although milk contains protein, and may contain different levels of fat, it is primarily a carbohydrate. The lactose found in milk is milk sugar. When you see the suffix “ose” in words relating to foods ie: sucrose, fructose, dextrose, maltose, lactose, this refers to sugar.
